Dr. Goode attended the University of Houston-Victoria and graduated cum laude in 2000 with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science. After working for Shell Oil Company for four years, she returned to school and attended the University of Houston College of Optometry where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry in 2008. She graduated as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa and the prestigious Gold Key International Optometric Honor Societies. While in school, she served as President of the Optometric Student Association and was active in all student organizations. During her education, she completed a semester-long rotation through various specialty clinics in St. Erik’s Eye Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden in 2007 including Retina, Pediatrics, Ocular Plastic Surgery, and Emergency Care. While interning at St. Erik’s, Europe’s foremost ophthalmologic hospital, Dr. Goode worked closely with specialists and surgeons from around the world. She observed and assisted in the treatment of many advanced and extreme eye diseases and conditions not usually seen firsthand by optometrists. In the Spring of 2008, she attended the Vision Care Institute Contact Lens Training Seminar sponsored by Johnson & Johnson in Jacksonville, Florida.
She began practicing optometry as a fill in doctor in private and commercial practices in and around Houston, Texas before relocating to the Pacific Northwest at the beginning of 2009. While living in Oregon, she attended to patients in her own commercial practice where she prescribed glasses and contact lenses, treated eye infections and diseases, co-managed LASIK and cataract patients, and cared for glaucoma, diabetic, and other ocular disorder patients. She has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma as well as corneal disorders and contact lens fittings. Dr. Goode and her family moved to Utah in June 2010 to pursue their dream of opening a private optometry practice where she could focus on family eyecare with the newest technology and equipment available.
In addition, Dr. Goode is an active member in Vision Source, a network of private practice doctors across North America. She attends annual conferences to keep up to date on the latest education and technology and stay in touch with colleagues from across the country. Dr. Goode is a leader in her daughter's local Girl Scout Troop.
